Sustainability – and integrated – performance reporting has evolved from a mostly voluntary cosmetic performative exercise, to becoming a legally obligatory audited tool for corporate transparency and accountability towards shareholders, authorities and consumers.
Regardless of where a company lands in terms of its reporting obligations or aspirations in 2026 , the value of both the journey and the outcomes, are immense.
When the job is done properly, reporting is often experienced as very complex , overwhelming and time-consuming for both leaders and teams.
Having learnt by doing over the past decade , I have found that company execs and teams face a number of common challenges :
COMMON REPORTING CHALLENGES :
- Determining the starting points and the ‘as is’ of the company ‘s currently measured, monitored, managed & reported topics, relative to newly identified material topics and disclosure requirements.
- Translating GRI/ISSB/ESRS.. Standard & Framework- requirements into milestones and deliverables, detailed project roadmaps and manageable cross functional workstreams, whilst also ensuring these are streamlined with company, strategy and financial priorities and reporting.
- Creating an efficient and effective process to identify, prepare, organise and engage the right stakeholders across the business in the decision making, content writing, data collection, quality control, validation and approval process, and overall project steering, along the reporting journey.
- Effectively managing variabilities and addressing challenges including missing or low-quality data, incomplete policies and procedures or weak ownership and governance, across both business and sustainability- topics to be reported on.

AS YOUR PARTNER
I wrote my first sustainability report in 2015, and have over the years supported the successful preparation , production, audit and publication of many companies’ annual, integrated, GRI, IR, ISSB and ESRS reports.
Unlike many, I actually love embarking on the adventures of a reporting journey!
Over the years I have developed strong reporting-specific project management & leadership skills, as well as matured my governance, steering, communication and facilitation expertise. I have designed and rolled out dozens of tools, methodologies, processes and procedures, that have gotten better and better at achieving the desired outcomes effectively and efficiently with each consecutive reporting project.
I always like to bring new ways of working to the table, leveraging the latest methods and technologies if desirable, but also adapt very well to my clients’ ways of doing things, the reporting teams’ skills and talents, and company culture.
My approach is to support my clients through a hands-on and pragmatic ‘’do it with you’’ approach, and to work as both a supporting partner and a project team lead across the reporting journey.
Before embarking on a reporting journey with my client, I will make a tailored project proposal with a detailed roadmap and budget.
